Tamara works with individuals, couples, families, and groups of all ages helping them improve their mental health and wellbeing. Tamara’s extensive counselling experience include working with LGBTI+ people, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, people who have experienced sexual assault, and people who have experienced trauma.
A Health Practitioner Research Development Scholar, she has a Master of Social Work, a Master of Arts, a Bachelor of Arts, and several diplomas related to trauma counselling, mediation, suicide intervention, and general mental health.
She has memberships in/affiliations with the Health and Community Services Union, the Australian Association of Social Work, the Society of Australian Sexologists, the Tasmanian Transcultural Mental Health Network, the Mental Health Professionals’ Network, the LGBTI Health Alliance, the Canadian Professional Association for Transgender Health, and the Canadian Psychological Association.
The Humanistic class of therapies forms the basis of her approach to counselling, to which she adds aspects of other therapy classes to form a treatment plan that honours the biopsychosocial realities of the people she works with.
